Robert D Eldridge, PhD

Robert D Eldridge, PhD, is a former tenured associate professor of Japanese Political and Diplomatic History and US-Japan Relations at Osaka University and a former visiting researcher at Tamkang University in Taiwan. He has also served as the Political Advisor to the US Marine Corps in Japan. He is the Director, North Asia, for the Global Risk Mitigation Foundation in addition to heading his own think tank and consultancy. He is an author, translator, and editor of numerous books about US-Japan relations including "The Origins of the Bilateral Okinawa Problem," "The Origins of U.S. Policy in the East China Sea Islands Dispute," "Japanese Public Opinion and the War on Terrorism," "Japan's Backroom Politics," "Japan's Postwar Prime Ministers," "Japan's Military Power," "The Japan Self-Defense Forces Law," "Search for Legitimacy," "An Inoffensive Rearmament," and "The Meiji Japanese Who Made Modern Taiwan." He has recently completed the English-Japanese bilingual sequels to his earlier book on the Senkaku Islands, expected to be published early next year.
