KOIOKI ‘Irourushi Nishikigoi’ (Lacquered Koi Chopstick Rests)

These lovely koi- (carp) shaped chopstick rests were made by Buddhist shrine craftsmen, Ryosuke and Fumiko Haga, who also specialize in urushi (lacquer) and gold leaf application. The colorful carp motif originated in Niigata.
