Popular comic and anime Demon Slayer is the subject of a new exhibition at CREATIVE MUSEUM TOKYO in central Tokyo. Open from November 2, the event, Exhibition of the Pillarsーto the Infinity Castle, showcases characters from the series. It's conveniently located in the Kyobashi area near Tokyo Station.
The venue is part of a newly redeveloped district aiming to establish a hub for art and business. It is housed on the 6th floor of the TODA BUILDING, which also opened on November 2.
The Pillars
In Demon Slayer, the Pillars are the nine elite swordsmen of the Demon Slayer Corps. They embody the enduring spirit of those who have battled Muzan Kibutsuji ― the origin of all demons ― for over a thousand years. Each Pillar holds a unique title and role. These nine pillars are:
・Water Pillar Giyu Tomioka
・Insect Pillar Shinobu Kocho
・Flame Pillar Kyojuro Rengoku
・Sound Pillar Tengen Uzui
・Mist Pillar Muichiro Tokito
・Love Pillar Mitsuri Kanroji
・Wind Pillar Sanemi Shinazugawa
・Serpent Pillar Obanai Iguro
・Stone Pillar Gyomei Himejima.
Together, they are essential figures in the unfolding story.
Spanning a vast 1,200-square-meter space with 5-meter-high ceilings, the exhibition presents a three-dimensional display of these Pillars as depicted across five years of anime. Each of the nine is brought into focus, highlighting its distinct personality and emotions from multiple angles. Featuring approximately 1,000 original drawings, the exhibit allows visitors to experience the true depth of these characters.
Pillar-Inspired Café Dishes
Additionally, the museum café is featuring a menu of nine items, each inspired by a different Pillar, for the duration of the exhibition. Prices begin at ¥1,890 (tax included).
From Manga to Film
Demon Slayer is a manga series written by Koyoharu Gotouge. Volumes 1 to 23 were serialized in Shueisha's Jump Comics, selling over 150 million copies. The anime began in 2019 with the Tanjiro Kamado: Unwavering Resolve Arc and has since aired across five seasons. After the Pillars Training Arc aired from May to June 2024, the creators announced the production of the Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle Arc film. Although the release date has yet to be announced, it has generated a lot of excitement among fans.
The exhibition will run until March 2, 2025.
