Early March is expected to be the last chance this year to see the weeping plum blossoms at their peak in the garden of Jonangu Shrine in Kyoto City, where many people go to pray for protection from misfortune.

According to Jonangu Shrine, the weeping plum trees bloomed about two weeks earlier than last year. Around 150 trees fill the garden with a sweet fragrance, while camellia petals scattered on the ground add to the picturesque scene. Visitors stroll along the paths, admiring the blossoms and taking photographs.

Visitor Impressions
Mami Nishida, an office worker who visited with her husband from Tokyo, said with a smile, "Being surrounded [by weeping plums] on both sides of the path, I felt completely immersed in their world — it was very impressive."
The garden is open from 9:00 AM to 4:30 PM, with last admission at 4:00 PM. Admission during this season is ¥1,000 JPY (about $6 USD) for adults.
