Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai is set to open in less than two months on April 13, with over 150 countries and regions expected to participate. Among them is the Czech Republic, whose pavilion will feature the theme "Talent and Creativity for Life." Czech Commissioner-General to Expo 2025, Ondřej Soška, shared its highlights.

"Talent and creativity are crucial for overcoming the challenges humanity faces," Soška said. "Creativity plays a vital role in finding solutions when unexpected situations arise. This is precisely what we want to showcase at our pavilion."

Alphonse Mucha the Philosopher

The pavilion will feature sculptures by one of the country's most renowned artists, Alphonse Mucha, best known for his decorative theatrical posters and panels. However, it will also highlight a lesser-known aspect of his legacy — his philosophy.

"Mucha believed that human beings have two fundamental aspects: reason and emotion. Neither should be relied upon in isolation," Soška explained. "Acting solely on emotions is dangerous, but focusing only on practicality is just as problematic. True wisdom lies in balancing the two. Achieving that balance allows humanity to progress."

Rather than focusing heavily on Czech history, the pavilion aims to create a positive emotional connection between visitors and the country.

Fostering Closer Ties

Business exchange will also be a key focus. Japan is the second-largest foreign investor in the Czech Republic, with around 280 Japanese companies operating there, particularly in the automotive and electronics industries.

"We hope to use the Expo as an opportunity to strengthen business ties and increase awareness of Czech enterprises within Japan’s economic sectors," Soška concluded.
