Imagine you're on a scenic train ride, taking in the lush landscapes of Japan when suddenly, a horde of zombies bursts into a dance routine. Welcome aboard Zombie Train 2, a spine-chilling attraction that returned to the Watarase Keikoku Railway on June 2.

Zombies and Beautiful Scenery

This unique blend of horror and entertainment takes place aboard the first car of the Torokko Watarase Keikoku train. Brave passengers are treated to impressive dance moves from zombies as they travel between Omama Station in Midori, Gunma Prefecture, and Tsudo Station in Nikko, Tochigi Prefecture.

First launched in 2023, Zombie Train quickly became a favorite among thrill-seekers and families alike. Due to popular demand and to boost tourism, the railway company decided to resurrect the zombies in collaboration with Nikko City, Kiryu City, and Midori City in Gunma Prefecture.

High School Zombies

The zombies on board are none other than talented members of the drama and dance clubs from Kiryu Municipal Commercial High School. These young performers bring passengers into a world of horror, creating an atmosphere that's both creepy and captivating.

Aki Murakami and her 10-year-old daughter Ayana from Ota, Gunma Prefecture, were among the delighted passengers. "It was scary, but we also enjoyed the beautiful scenery along the way," Aki remarked with a smile.

One of the zombies, Yui Suzuki, is a third-year student and member of the local high school dance club. She shared, "I was quite nervous, but had tons of fun. I want more people to know about the Zombie Train."

Zombie Train 2 is scheduled to run eight times on weekends until September 1. The one-way fare is ¥3500 JPY (about $22 USD) for adults and ¥2000 JPY ($13 USD) for children, and reservations are required.
