A unique wedding photoshoot event featuring snakes was held at Watabe Wedding's Omotesando flagship store in Shibuya, Tokyo, ahead of New Year 2025.

This was the event's ninth edition. It offers one lucky couple, chosen by lottery, a free photo shoot with an animal representing the zodiac sign of the upcoming year.

For last year's shoot, the couple posed with four snakes from three different species. A 130cm-long ball python named "Sen-chan" coiled around the couple's shoulders, symbolizing a strong and lasting bond as they embarked on their new life together.

Capturing Happiness

The bride, 26-year-old Rin Takagi, loves snakes and was delighted by the experience while wearing her wedding dress. "It feels soft and squishy, but also has a solid weight to it. It's so cute," she said with a smile.

The groom, 25-year-old Taiki Miyagawa, reflected on their future together. "I want us to walk through life like a snake — sometimes taking detours, but always moving forward," he said.

Sawako Miura from Watabe Wedding explained, "We started this event in response to the growing demand for New Year's cards and pet photos. By incorporating the zodiac and New Year's traditions, which hold special meaning in Japanese culture, we aim to capture the couple's happiness in these photos."
