Japanese fast-fashion leader UNIQLO opened a new flagship store in Osaka's Umeda district on October 24. It is located in western Japan's largest transportation hub, where Hankyu, Hanshin, JR, and subway lines meet. The store is expected to attract many overseas visitors.
The store covers about 4,290 square meters across two floors in the Umekita area, one of the Kansai region's key commercial districts now undergoing major redevelopment.

Aiming to 'Energize' Osaka
At a press conference held the day before the opening, Tomohiko Sei, executive officer of Fast Retailing Group, which operates UNIQLO, said, "This is our fourth global flagship store in Japan and the twelfth worldwide. Umeda is a place that draws people from all over the world. Last year, our domestic sales exceeded one trillion yen for the first time. We hope to help energize the city of Umeda."

On inbound tourism, he added, "Sales from overseas visitors are significant, but we're not focusing solely on them — we aim to enrich the lives of all people."
Clothing is displayed in showcase-style exhibits with information in both Japanese and English. Customers can order embroidery on items such as sweaters and bags, adding their preferred letters or designs. The store also offers products like Japanese kitchen knives for overseas shoppers.
The new store is set to become a major landmark in Osaka.
