Appearing in his 22nd consecutive world title fight on Monday, May 6 at Tokyo Dome, Naoya Inoue was knocked down for the first time in his 27 professional bouts. But, in retrospect, it was nothing to be alarmed about, SportsLook reporter Colin Morrison noted, as the Inoue-Nery fight was decided by super bantamweight champion Inoue's razor-sharp mental focus and impressive punching power.

Inoue earned a sixth-round technical knockout to retain his WBA, WBC, IBF and WBO title belts.

On this podcast episode, Morrison pointed out to SportsLook sports editor Ed Odeven that Inoue executed a metaphorical reset. In short, the fight began anew after Inoue surprisingly fell to the canvas less than 2 minutes into the opening round.

Morrison raved about Inoue's overall boxing acumen and well-targeted blows to neutralize Nery. He also credited Nery for his aggressive approach at the outset of the fight.
