Sendai City is hosting Pokemon GO Fest 2024 from May 30 to June 2. It offers two experiences: one at the main venue, Nanakita Park, and another throughout the rest of the city. This event has proven extremely popular with players from both Japan and abroad, with many seen exploring the city wearing Pikachu visors distributed at the event.

Official routes have been set up at ten locations throughout the city. They include landmarks such as the Aoba Castle ruins and Akiu Onsen. Another spot is the ruins of Sendai Arahama Elementary School, which was destroyed in the Great East Japan Earthquake.
Pokemon GO Fest is held annually in cities around the world. Following Sendai, the event will move to Madrid, Spain, in June, and New York, United States, in July. In August 2023, approximately 60,000 people participated in the event held in Osaka over three days. Sendai aims to attract a similar number of players.
