Luba Ampleva

Luba Ampleva is a PhD candidate in Social Anthropology at SOAS (School of Oriental and African Studies), University of London. Through analysing the phenomenon of Caucasian fashion models working in Tokyo, Luba’s research focuses on issues of ideals of beauty, cultural production as well as migration and migrant labour in contemporary Japan. Fieldwork part of this projects takes place in Tokyo in affiliation with the University of Tokyo. In her free time Luba is passionate about reading, writing, hiking and attending live music events.
