Robert D Eldridge, PhD
Robert D Eldridge, PhD, is a former tenured associate professor of Japanese Political and Diplomatic History and US-Japan Relations at Osaka University. He has also served as the Political Advisor to the US Marine Corps in Japan. Currently, Eldridge is a 2024 Taiwan Ministry of Foreign Affairs Fellow at Tamkang University. He is the translator of "The Meiji Japanese Who Made Modern Taiwan" (Lexington, 2022). In addition, he is an author, translator, and editor of numerous books about US-Japan relations including "The Origins of the Bilateral Okinawa Problem," "The Origins of U.S. Policy in the East China Sea Islands Dispute," "Japanese Public Opinion and the War on Terrorism," "Japan's Backroom Politics," "Japan's Postwar Prime Ministers," "Japan's Military Power," "The Japan Self-Defense Forces Law," "Search for Legitimacy," and "An Inoffensive Rearmament."
