The market started operation on October 11, and tours for the public started on October 13.

The new market is divided into three blocks:

  • Block 5 is for fruits and vegetables. It has a color-coded path so visitors can see the seasonal produce.
  • Block 6 has the intermediate wholesale fish market. Here, people can see the stalls and shop there, and also go up to an observation deck to view the grand atmosphere from a more inviting vantage point.
  • Block 7 is where the Tuna auction will take place.

Have you heard of the famously fast forklifts that whiz through the market? It’s now possible to take a picture with one of these amazing little vehicles to have a souvenir from your visit.

Moreover, there is also a corner introducing the history of the fish market and the fish suggested for the different seasons.

Tours take place every day, from 5 A.M. to 5 P.M., excluding holidays. Food consumption and shopping are dependent on the working hours of individual stalls.

You might be wondering, can people already see the tuna auction?

This event, which is highly popular among tourists, has started in its new Toyosu home. It takes place in Block 7. However, public tours of the tuna auction won’t resume until January 15, 2019, in order to avoid the end of year rush and New Year 2019 holidays.
