1945年8月14日に発生した葛根廟事件は、満洲国の興安街から避難行動中の民間人がソ連軍の戦車部隊に襲撃され1000人以上が虐殺されたものである。生存者も自決や再び襲撃されるなど、惨劇は終戦後も続いた。
