[Hidden Wonders of Japan] 1970 Osaka Expo's Tower of the Sun Shines at Special Winter Illumination
The centerpiece of the event is the iconic tower from the Japan World Exposition held in Osaka in 1970, created by renowned artist Taro Okamoto.
The "IllumiNight Expo: 2023 Winter" illumination event began on December 1 at the Expo Commemorative Park in Suita, Osaka Prefecture. This light show transforms the Tower of the Sun, an iconic symbol of the Japan World Exposition (Expo '70) in September 1970, with a stunning display of vibrant colors.
Adjacent to the tower is a seven-meter-tall (22 ft) Christmas tree, casting a warm glow on chilly winter evenings.
This special illumination will take place every Friday and weekend until December 30 and on December 28 (Thursday). The lights will be switched on from sunset until around 9 pm.
